You will be able to withdraw! After Rio Grande do Sul, the state of Santa Catarina is now facing the consequences of heavy rains and floods. In response, Congresswoman Ana Paula Lima (PT) submitted a request to the Civil House for the release of emergency FGTS withdrawals.

Workers contribute part of their salaries to the Severance Pay Guarantee Fund (FGTS). Thus, they have the possibility of accessing this amount in certain circumstances, such as after an unfair dismissal or during emergencies.

Therefore, emergency withdrawal of FGTS becomes available when workers face natural disasters, such as heavy rains, floods, landslides or intense winds.

How is the release of the emergency FGTS withdrawal carried out?

Caixa Econômica Federal manages the Fund's payments. Therefore, it makes the disbursements of the emergency withdrawal of the FGTS. However, the release only occurs for municipalities that the government has officially declared as places in a state of emergency or calamity.

In this way, workers in these affected areas can withdraw funds from their active and inactive accounts, with a limit of R$6,220. Caixa publishes daily which municipalities have been included in this list. It is worth noting that there is a specific period for workers to request this withdrawal.

Workers can request an emergency withdrawal of their FGTS funds through the FGTS app (available for Android and iOS). Just follow these steps: Open the app > Access “My Withdrawals” > Click on “Other Withdrawal Situations” > Select “Public Calamity” > Choose the municipality > Click on “Continue” > Determine how you want to receive the money > Send the necessary documentation.
