The tool makes receiving it easier, following legal priorities; find out how it works

Pix is the instant payment method in Brazil

Receiving an Income Tax refund instead of having to pay is a great situation. And the Federal Revenue Service has made the process easier in recent years by allowing Pix to be used as a way to deposit funds to taxpayers.

Yes, Pix is a valid option for receiving the refund. What’s more: it works as an official “queue-jumper” for the 2023 Income Tax, serving as a priority criterion—which means that, if there is an amount to be received, it will be deposited in an earlier batch. Always following legal priorities, of course.

Payment will be made on August 31 for the 3.8 million taxpayers.
It is worth remembering that only the holder’s CPF is accepted as a Pix key by the Federal Revenue Service. As stated on the federal government website: “email, phone, or random keys are not valid in this case.”

Who needs to file an Income Tax return?

People who received taxable income above R$ 28,559.70 in 2022 must file a return with the tax authorities. This includes, for example, salaries received by professionals under the CLT regime.

It is important to remember two points: taxable income is only one of the criteria that require filing an IR return, so it is necessary to consider all the others to avoid errors; and the information to be filled in this year refers to the 2022 calendar year. Check out the other seven criteria that require filing a return with the tax authorities.
