The SVR is a digital BC platform that helps individuals, companies, and relatives of deceased persons check whether they have any unclaimed funds in banks or other financial institutions. System inquiries, which had been suspended since April 2022, resumed last Tuesday (28), accessible through the website “valoresareceber.bcb.gov.br/publico”. To find out whether they are entitled to any funds, users only need to provide their CPF and date of birth, or the CNPJ and company incorporation date.
For now, the SVR only confirms whether or not there are funds to be claimed, without revealing the amount. This information will be available starting at 10 a.m. next Tuesday (7), on the same website. This is also the date when withdrawals begin. The total amount to be distributed is R$ 6 billion, benefiting 38 million CPFs and 2 million CNPJs. To help Brazilians better understand, TechTudo has prepared a list of six frequently asked questions about money forgotten in banks, including guidance on checking, withdrawing, and how to avoid scams.
1. What is the website to check whether I have funds to be claimed?
The only official platform for checking and requesting reimbursement of the funds is valoresareceber.bcb.gov.br. Other websites that appear similar to the Central Bank's page are not official and may be scams by cybercriminals to steal your data.
2. What are the types of funds to be claimed?
Unclaimed funds from banks and financial institutions may include:
– Current or savings accounts closed with a remaining balance;
– Capital shares and distribution of net surpluses from former members of credit unions;
– Unclaimed funds from closed consortium groups;
– Fees charged improperly;
– Installments or expenses related to credit operations charged improperly;
– Prepaid or postpaid payment accounts closed with a remaining balance;

3. How can I check whether I have funds to claim?
To find out whether you have money forgotten in banks, visit the SVR website and enter your CPF and date of birth, or your CNPJ and the date your company was established. For now, the system only indicates whether or not you have funds to claim. If the search returns a positive result, return to the website from 10 a.m. on March 7, next Tuesday, to find out the amount owed and how to request reimbursement.

4. When do withdrawals of forgotten funds begin?
Starting March 7, you will be able to see the amount you are entitled to receive and request its withdrawal. The total to be distributed is R$ 8 billion, benefiting 38 million CPF holders and 2 million CNPJ holders.
5. What has changed in the Receivables System?
The SVR has undergone some updates. Now, it will no longer be necessary to schedule access based on the date of birth or the date the company was established. The system now has a virtual waiting room to provide service when there is excessive demand. In addition, it is possible to check the funds of a deceased person as an heir or legal representative.
6. How can you avoid scams related to forgotten money in banks?
The first measure to avoid scams is to make sure you are actually on the official Receivables System website. Pay attention to the page’s domain: criminals may create websites that look similar to the Central Bank’s website and make small changes to the URL to deceive unsuspecting victims.
In addition, remember that:
– The Central Bank does not send links or contact you to discuss funds to be received or confirm your personal data;
– Only the institution that appears in the Receivables System can contact you, and it will never ask for your password;
– Avoid clicking on suspicious links sent by email, SMS, WhatsApp, or Telegram.
– The institutions holding the funds do not require payment of fees to return the money. Therefore, never make transfers to receive these amounts.”
