The FGTS is a right of all workers bound by the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT), and therefore, employers must deposit 8% of their salary into the account every month. Therefore, this percentage should not be discounted from the payroll. Furthermore, with these deposits, the amount accumulates over the years of service and can be used in specific situations.
In addition to retirement withdrawals, there is also the option of using the amount for housing financing, for example. In addition, there are other types of withdrawals, such as termination withdrawals, serious illness withdrawals, calamity withdrawals, among others.
