Understand the Caixa R$ 15 thousand incident
Initially, it is crucial to understand how the Sigilo Institute proceeded. Here, we are talking about a lawsuit due to the exposure of information. The agency states that data from approximately 4 million recipients of Auxílio Brasil in 2022 were exposed.

In this way, bank agents improperly handled this information, originating from more than 4,000 cities, to propose loans and other financial offers. In early September, the 1st Federal Civil Court of São Paulo set an amount of R$15,000 for each affected person as moral compensation.
The obligation to pay the amount lies with the Union, Caixa Econômica Federal, Dataprev and the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD). However, Caixa contested the verdict. The contestation arises because the institution denies any exposure of data, reaffirming the security of its Single Registry records, as well as compliance with the General Data Protection Law (LGPD).
