Understand the effect of the Desenrola Program when dealing with debts. See how financial education can prevent future debts.
The Desenrola Program, designed to deal with bank and non-bank debts, ended its first month of activity consolidating R$8.1 billion in renegotiated debts. This benefited approximately 985 thousand clients, according to recent statistics from the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban).
This feature of the program, although it gives the client a momentary respite, can trigger a successive debt condition, in the absence of correct financial management. It is important to note that a debt of up to R$100 can multiply in a short period of one year, considering the average annual interest rate of R$59.91 for personal credit.

According to Febraban, almost five million records of outstanding debts, with values up to R$100, were removed from the defaulters' lists by July 2023. However, the vast majority of these outstanding debts are related to smaller accounts, neglected by financial institutions, which continue to accumulate charges.
Furthermore, many customers are unaware of such debts, since they have not properly analyzed their bank or digital platform records. Therefore, in such a situation, financial professionals reinforce the need to settle these accounts promptly after the default is removed.
