Changes to the Vale-Gás program will be reflected in October deposits; understand the news.

Several Brazilians have the chance to receive the benefit, while some run the risk of being left out. Gas Voucher undergoes important changes. Recently, the Federal Government authorities announced several changes to the program. In view of this, if you are entitled to the benefit, it is recommended that you keep up to date with these changes. It is worth noting that the main purpose of this program is to ensure that the neediest families can buy a 13-kilo gas cylinder.

Nowadays, many consider the Gas Voucher as one of the main government assistance programs. After all, the gas cylinder is essential for Brazilian daily life and has a significant price. Knowing this, see below the news, including the adjusted price, the complete schedule and the changes implemented.

How many beneficiaries have Vale-Gás?

First, it is important to emphasize that Vale-Gás operates with a “restricted number” of beneficiaries. The Federal Government allocates a specific amount to the program, without exceeding this amount.

For this reason, unlike other government assistance programs, this benefit has a reduced number of recipients. Currently, around 5.6 million Brazilians benefit from Vale-Gás. Bolsa Família, on the other hand, reaches more than 22 million.

What is the value of the benefit?

The program, as previously mentioned, aims to ensure that vulnerable families can purchase a 13-kilo cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Initially, the aid covered only 50% of the value of the cylinder, ranging from R$ 50 to R$ 60. However, recently, under the Lula administration, there was an increase in the Vale-Gás. Through the Transition PEC, the Union defined that this year's deposits cover the full value of the cylinder.

So, what is the new value of Vale-Gás? For now, this question remains without a concrete answer, since the value is fluctuating.

In short, the amounts vary according to each release. The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) sets the value based on the average price of the cylinder in Brazil, generally between R$ 90 and R$ 112.

Who is entitled to the benefit?

Many people believe that receiving Bolsa Família automatically guarantees the Gas Voucher. However, to be eligible, you must meet several requirements. See the main criteria below:

  • Maintain an active and current registration in the Federal Government's Single Registry of Social Programs (renewal is mandatory every 2 years or when there are significant changes in the family);
  • Present a monthly per capita income of up to R$$ 660;
  • Have at least one family member receiving the Continuous Benefit Payment of the Organic Law of Social Assistance (BPC/LOAS).

Given the quota limitations, families with lower incomes have preference in receiving payments.

Significant change in Vale-Gás confirmed by the Government

As previously stated, the Federal Government has announced changes to the Vale-Gás program. The changes are mainly related to the way the aid is accessed.

Now, checking the status of your benefit has become easier, and can be done via your cell phone or computer. The verification is entirely online and can be completed quickly.

So, how can you check your Vale-Gás payments in 2023? Below, we list all the options available:
