The main age group affected is 41 to 60 years old, accounting for 35% of the total. Next, we have the 26 to 40 age group, with 34.5%. Since the beginning of 2023, the outstanding amount in basic accounts has grown by approximately 13.82%, according to Serasa.

Defaults are mainly related to bank accounts and credit cards, accounting for approximately 29,29% of the total outstanding debts. Although there was a downward trend in June, the situation has recently reversed.

Government initiative aims to reduce outstanding debts

Desenrola Brasil, a Federal Government project, aims to facilitate debt renegotiation for those with outstanding debts. In September, the expectation is that individuals in Faixa 1 will begin conversations with the entities involved.

Thus, at this stage, those who have debts of up to R$1,000 or other outstanding bank debts have the chance to adjust the amounts. The Government will soon launch a platform to mediate the agreements, functioning as a type of “bidding”. The focus is on those who earn up to 2 minimum wages and are registered with CadÚnico.

In conclusion, the program, which has already completed the stage related to Faixa 2, aims to contribute to the reduction of defaults indicated in Serasa data. In the initial stage, more than 1.9 million agreements were concluded through Desenrola.
