Surprising R$6.2 billion awaits redemption in BC’s receivables service

The BC (Central Bank) still has R$6.2 billion forgotten in the service for receiving amounts, even after more than two months since the resumption of the platform that allows withdrawing money left in bank accounts and financial institutions. To date, R$36.81 of the total available, which is R$9.9 billion in the Payment System, has been Amounts Receivable (SVR), were rescued between March 7 and May 8.

To check if you are eligible, you must access the SVR website and click on “Check amounts to receive”. Fill in the CPF or CNPJ field and provide your date of birth.

Of the R$3.6 billion recovered, R$2.7 billion returned to the pockets of 12.6 million consumers. The other R$897.2 million were released to 447,470 companies, according to data from the Central Bank.

Of the customers with amounts to receive, including possible duplicate beneficiaries, seven out of ten (71.7%) have funds forgotten in banks. Consortium administrators (20.5%), financial institutions (7.6.9%), cooperatives (5.1%) and payment institutions (4.1%) are also on the list.

In terms of monetary values, the majority of forgotten amounts (72.4%) do not exceed R$ 10. The redemptions available above R$ 1,000 represent only 1.5% of the resources made available by the SVR.

The highest amount requested by a company was R$3.2 million, while for an individual it was R$749.4 thousand.

In the first phase of the forgotten resources return program, which took place between March and April 2022, R$3.9 billion were made available. However, only R$8.21 million of this amount (R$321 million) were requested through the BC platform, with R$306 million by individuals and R$15 million by companies.

How to retrieve the values:

To check if you are one of the beneficiaries of the amounts to be received, simply access the system on the Central Bank website and fill in the fields with your CPF or CNPJ.

If there is any amount to be redeemed, you can click on the “Access the SVR” button and you will be redirected to obtain more information and check how to request the resources. You must have a silver or gold level account in the federal government system, gov.br.

Within the system, click on “My amounts to be received”. Read and accept the Acknowledgement Term. You will then be able to view the total amount to be received, the name and details of the institution responsible for returning the amount, as well as the origin of the amount to be redeemed.

Next, follow the instructions provided:

  • If the system offers the option “request here”:
    Select one of your Pix keys (required field) and provide your personal data. Save the protocol number to contact the institution, if necessary. In this case, you will receive the amount within 12 business days.
  • If the system offers the option “request here”, but does not display a Pix key available for selection:
    Contact the financial institution directly by phone or email, as instructed by them, to arrange the refund method. In this case, the financial institution is not obliged to refund the amount within 12 business days. Or, if you prefer, create a Pix key and return to the system to request the amount.
  • If the system does not offer the option “request here”:
    Contact the financial institution directly by phone or email, as instructed by them, to arrange the refund method. In this case, the financial institution is not obliged to refund the amount within 12 business days.

The Central Bank highlights the following precautions:

  • The only website to consult and find out how to request a refund, whether for a company or for deceased individuals, is https://valoresareceber.bcb.gov.br.
  • All services provided by Valores a Receber are completely free. Do not make any type of payment to obtain access to the amounts.
  • The Central Bank does not send links or contact you to discuss amounts to be received or to confirm your personal data.
  • Only the institution that appears in the Receivables System can contact you, and it will never ask for your password.
  • Do not click on suspicious links sent via email, SMS, WhatsApp or Telegram.
