Bolsa Família is the Brazilian government's national income transfer program (called Auxílio Brasil in the previous administration). This is a social benefit that aims to help families in vulnerable conditions with their monthly expenses.
But after all, who is included in the program? First of all, it is important to point out that there is a limit on income for a family to be eligible to receive these payments. The rule is that the monthly income per person is up to R$1,218.
This means that, as stated in the Bolsa Família booklet, “all income generated by the people in the family, per month, divided by the number of people in the family, is, at most, R$218”.

Registration for Bolsa Família
In addition to the income rule, there is another requirement for receiving Bolsa Família. Registration with the Cadastro Único is required. This is a registry that gathers information about citizens who are part of various social programs of the Federal Government.
You must go to a registration office or social assistance service in the municipality to register. You must bring identification documents for all family members, as well as proof of residence.
To find out the complete list of documents you need to present when registering, visit page from MDS and navigate to the services tab.
