The São Paulo municipal administration announced a significant increase in the Urban Security Performance Award for members of the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM). The bonus, previously R$ 3.5 thousand, will now be R$ 5 thousand, representing an increase of more than 40%.

The policy published in the Official Gazette aims to value and recognize employees engaged in the city's security.
Recognition and appreciation for Metropolitan Civil Guard employees
The increase in the bonus, directed to the 5,476 GCM members, is part of the corporation's appreciation plan. The first installment, worth R$ 2.5 thousand, is expected at the end of this month, with the second installment of equal value scheduled for December.
To receive the benefit, employees must have started or resumed their duties by April 30, 2023, in addition to having completed at least six months of effective work in the units of the Municipal Secretariat of Urban Security by October 31, 2023.
Investment in the Metropolitan Civil Guard and outstanding challenges
This strategy is another step in the process of enhancing the GCM. The expectation is that another thousand guards will be trained in July, selected through the public examination at the Urban Security Training Academy.
In addition, the municipal administration provided 116 new motorcycles to the GCM's Motorcycle Actions Inspectorate (Iamo) in April, strengthening the corporation's infrastructure and operational capacity.
However, this salary increase comes at a critical time for the GCM. At the beginning of the month, the municipal administration suspended seven guards suspected of participating in an extortion scheme in Cracolândia, in downtown São Paulo.
