During the 29th edition of Agrishow, held in Ribeirão Preto (SP), the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) presented a new line of credit focusing on the agricultural sector.
The initiative, named CPR BNDES, aims to meet the demand for resources from micro, small and medium rural producers and their cooperatives, with the potential to achieve R$ 10 billion in own credit from BNDES for the sector in 2024.
Purpose of the new credit line
According to Alexandre Abreu, financial and digital credit director for MSMEs at BNDES, the main objective of the CPR BNDES line is ensure the continuity and expansion of agricultural activities in the country, in addition to mitigate the impacts of adverse weather conditions faced by producers in recent years.

- Available resources: The new line of credit made available by BNDES offers resources for investments in modernization, expansion and innovation in agribusiness;
- Favorable conditions: Financing conditions are attractive, with competitive interest rates and flexible payment terms, aiming to facilitate access to credit for rural producers and companies in the sector.

Government support and commitment to sustainability
The announcement of the new line of credit was received with enthusiasm by the Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, who highlighted the importance of the agribusiness for Brazil's economic growth.
Alckmin also highlighted the government's priority in develop the agroindustry, adding value to Brazilian exports.
Aloizio Mercadante, president of BNDES, reinforced the institution's commitment to sustainable development, even though regulatory standards do not require this specific application for CPR-F and CDCA. Mercadante emphasized that support for the agricultural sector is one of the Brazilian government priorities.
Praise from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock
Carlos Fávaro, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, also praised the BNDES initiative, highlighting that the new credit line will strengthen the working capital of cooperatives and expand investment opportunities in the agricultural sector.
Fávaro highlighted the importance of BNDES as partner of Brazilian agriculture, boosting the social and economic development of the country.
Operation of the CPR BNDES line
The operations of the CPR BNDES line will be carried out by more than 80 financial agents accredited by BNDES throughout the country.
The titles issued may be used by micro, small and medium rural producers, cooperatives and companies in the agro-industrial sector to formalize the granting of loans for agricultural and livestock activities.
Loan Details CPR BNDES
- Limit of up to R$ 20 million every 12 months;
- Payment term of up to 60 months (including grace period of up to 24 months);
- Final rate composed of:
- BNDES basic remuneration of 1.3% per year;
- Financial agent remuneration of up to 4.3% per year;
- Financial cost reference (TLP, TS, TFB or TFBD);
The new CPR BNDES credit line seeks expand access to financing for the agricultural sector, stimulating economic growth and sustainable development in Brazil.
The initiative is expected to contribute to the modernization of Brazilian agribusiness, making it more competitive and resilient to climate change.
