Curitiba City Council Approves Benefit Increase
The value of the meal allowance, which was R$$ 13, will be R$$ 30 for civil servants and R$$ 30.93 for public workers. Therefore, the latter class includes professionals such as disease control agents and community health agents. The benefit is granted per day worked.
Furthermore, 16 of the 38 councilors of the City Council signed the amendment that formalizes the increase. Tico Kuzma (PSD), leader of the government in the CMC, calculated the effective increase in the aid at 120%.

In terms of budget, the burden resulting from the increase in the benefit will represent a disbursement of R$11.6 million to municipal coffers in 2023, starting in September. Subsequent investments will be R$31 million in 2024 and an additional R$32 million in 2025.
What Other Information Did the Councilor Disseminate?
Kuzma explained that, since 2009, public servants have been waiting for this increase and, since 2018, public workers have also been waiting for this increase, since the benefit law was extended to them. Thus, “[…] the daily amount of the meal allowance was adjusted only according to the salary increases provided by the Municipality, disregarding the real fluctuations in food prices”, he stated.

As mentioned by the councilor, approximately 7,624 employees are entitled to this benefit. Therefore, it can be deduced that the remuneration of these professionals is equivalent to R$$ 3,156.18. However, a second round vote on this project is still scheduled at the CMC, scheduled for next Wednesday (27).
