Discover Nubank's Secure Cell Phone

Nubank is a digital bank that was founded in 2013 and offers a variety of services. One of them is “Nubank Safe Cell Phone”. This is an insurance policy that protects your device in cases of accidental damage or theft.

This is a relatively new product. The insurance company responsible for Nubank's cell phone insurance is Chubb (the same company behind the purple one's Life Insurance). According to what is stated on Nubank's website, it is only possible to have one cell phone insurance per CPF.

You can either purchase one of the two coverages separately (accidental damage or theft/robbery) or purchase a complete package. You can purchase the coverage through the Nubank app.

Taking out insurance

To sign up, go to the Nubank app for Android or iOS. Navigate through the menu to the “Cell Phone Insurance” option and then click on “Find out more”. You will then need to enter your cell phone’s IMEI.

Next, you must choose which type of insurance you want to purchase (or if you want comprehensive insurance that covers all incidents). Finally, enter your four-digit password to complete the transaction.

Activating the insurance

To activate your insurance, Nubank recommends that you access this site. You can also contact the bank by phone at 0800 591 2117, via the chat in the app or via email [email protected].

However, if you decide to cancel your insurance, simply access the Cell Phone Insurance section and click on “View Coverage”. Then click on “Cancel Insurance” and follow the other instructions.
