Long-term financial aid: Workers will receive support of R$4,000 for 5 years. Find out more!

A group of Brazilian workers will be entitled to receive an amount of R$4,000 from the government over an extended period. Understand the reasons behind this initiative!

A new law has been implemented banning the transport of fish from the state of Mato Grosso, valid for five years. The decision aims to protect the region's natural resources and aquatic biodiversity.

This ban directly affects local fishermen, compromising their income and livelihood. They depend on catching and selling fish as their main source of livelihood.

In view of this, former congressman Sergio Ricardo proposes the creation of a special fund to assist fishermen. The proposed aid could vary between R$1,320 and R$4,000, depending on the approval of the project.

Details on aid to fishermen

Ricardo advocates the creation of a Fishermen's Fund to support those affected by the ban on fish transportation. The project provides financial assistance for three years.

In the first year, the amount of a minimum wage would be paid, equivalent to R$ 1,320 in 2024. In the second year, the aid would be reduced to R$ 660. In the third year, the amount would decrease even further, reaching just R$ 33.

Deputies of the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso (ALMT) are looking for ways to increase the value of the aid. Sergio Ricardo, as an advisor to the State Court of Auditors (TCE), also supports this initiative.

He highlights the importance of providing a more adequate amount to ensure the livelihood of fishermen and their families. An amount between R$ 3,000 and R$ 4,000 would be more meaningful and useful to fishermen.

Details of the ban on transporting fish

The “Zero Transport” project will come into effect on January 1, 2024, banning the transportation, storage and sale of fish for the next five years.

During this period, catch-and-release fishing and subsistence fishing will be permitted. The aim is to preserve fisheries resources and ensure the sustainability of aquatic ecosystems.
