Therefore, these customers will have their credit limits restored. In addition, Mercado Pago users will have the opportunity to renegotiate their debts through Desenrola Brasil, benefiting from discounts of up to 95% and payment in up to 60 installments. Regarding interest, rates start at 1.99% per month.

Along with Mercado Pago, the fintech Neon announced on the same Tuesday (25) that it would participate in Desenrola Brasil. Founded in 2016, Neon is a digital account for payments and the issuance of electronic money and post-paid instruments, which also provides credit and debit cards.

How Desenrola Brasil works

According to the Ministry of Finance, Desenrola Brasil will be carried out through a reverse auction among creditors, categorized by type of credit. Thus, whoever offers the largest discount will be included in the program, exposing the debt for renegotiation with the certainty that it will be settled.

Furthermore, the Federal Government informs that the Desenrola Brasil program will take place in three phases. The first two have been in effect since July 17, and may settle bank debts of up to R$ 100. During the auction, financial institutions may use funds to guarantee the negotiation of debts.

However, Desenrola Brasil will not negotiate certain debts, such as rural credits, debts guaranteed by the Union and debts owed to public entities, debts with provisions for public funding, debts whose credit risk is not fully assumed by financial agents, and debts with interest rate equalization by the Union.

Desenrola Brasil, a program created by the Federal Government to facilitate debt renegotiation, has been showing excellent results. In the first seven days of operation (July 17 to 23), banks had already granted approximately R$ 1 billion in discounts through the Serasa Limpa Nome platform.

Consequently, the amount of discounts on the Serasa platform represents a 97% increase compared to the previous month. In June, the discounts granted totaled approximately R$ 494 million.

Furthermore, Desenrola Brasil has not been successful only with bank debts, as other types of debts have also been renegotiated. The Serasa Limpa Nome platform recorded a considerable increase in the negotiation of different types of debts.

It is important to emphasize that, in this initial phase of Desenrola Brasil, the program does not promote the renegotiation of debts from non-bank segments. However, Serasa attributes the significant increase in the negotiation of other types of debts to the program.
