The program recently introduced by the Federal Government, Desenrola, is fully operational. However, it is essential that citizens remain vigilant to avoid potential fraud.

Presented by the Federal Government just over a week ago, the Desenrola program proposes a solution for negotiating debts, with the aim of helping individuals overcome default. In addition, the goal of this project is to benefit approximately 70 million people. However, it is crucial that those in debt remain cautious so as not to fall victim to scams.

Since the program's launch on the 17th, an increase has been observed in reports from citizens who have fallen victim to online scams. Opportunists are taking advantage of this period of confusion to commit fraud, primarily targeting those who already have debts.

These fraudsters create fake websites, links, and apps that pose as the official Desenrola program. In most cases, the links redirect individuals to a new page, where they often steal users' personal data.

In different situations, scammers send payment slips or even Pix keys to the victim, asking them to make a deposit into the criminals’ account. The deceptive message claims that payment is necessary to begin the debt negotiation process under the fake Desenrola program. In this desperate situation, many Brazilians end up being deceived.

How does the scam work?

According to reports on social media, criminals send fake links, videos, and apps through social media or messaging apps. These messages generally pressure the individual to click the link immediately, or risk losing the opportunity to negotiate their debts.

How to protect yourself?

The Federal Government emphasizes that, in this initial phase, the Desenrola program serves only people with a per capita income of up to R$ 20 thousand. In addition, individuals must have incurred the debt by December 31, 2022, exclusively with banks.

Therefore, the best strategy to avoid scams related to Desenrola is to negotiate directly with the bank. The initiative must come from the person in debt, who should contact the financial institution, either in person or through the bank’s official channels.

Official Desenrola channels
