The Desenrola Brasil project, conceived in collaboration between the Federal Government and the National Association of Credit Bureaus (ANBC), got off to a strong start, settling 2.64 million debts of up to R$ 100 in its first three days of operation. In short, its purpose is to assist individuals with debts who are listed with credit protection agencies, such as Serasa and SPC.

Desenrola Brasil: program settles 2.6 million debts of up to R$ 100

The initial stage of Desenrola is intended for individuals with debts of up to R$ 100, allowing them to remove their names from the list of defaulters and make way for financial recovery. However, it is crucial to understand that the debt does not disappear; only the negative record is removed.

According to ANBC, it is important to highlight that the 2.6 million settled debts do not correspond exactly to the number of beneficiaries of the program. This is because a single CPF can have multiple debts. Therefore, the number of people whose names have been cleared may be lower than the total number of settled debts.

Bank participation and optimistic figures

Desenrola began with five banks, but over the course of the week, four others joined. The institutions participating in Desenrola Brasil are: Banco do Brasil, Caixa, Bradesco, Itaú and Santander, plus the digital banks C6 Bank, Inter, PicPay and Nubank. Thus, the data provided by the banks indicate that many Brazilians have already taken advantage of the program.

Bradesco granted the removal of negative credit records for 580,000 debtors, while C6 Bank, which joined recently, cleared the names of 456,000 people. Caixa also achieved success, enabling financial regularization for 225,000 citizens.

Nubank's contribution and future expectations

The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, announced that, with Nubank joining, it is estimated that an additional 2.5 million people may be able to clear their names through the program. This partnership has the potential to assist a large number of Brazilians in difficult financial circumstances.

Debt renegotiation and advantages for debtors

Generally, after the program was launched, several banks began offering significant discounts for upfront payments, of up to 96% of the debt amount, as well as payment periods of up to ten years.

Renegotiation terms vary according to each customer's contract, providing personalized options.

How to join the Desenrola Brasil Program?

The program may benefit up to 70 million Brazilians with debts who are listed with credit protection agencies such as Serasa and SPC. Thus, the first phase of the program is intended for debtors with an income of up to R$ 20 thousand.

In short, to participate in the process of having their names removed from negative credit listings, beneficiaries must have accounts with banks participating in Desenrola Brasil. This allows them to contact the institutions directly to negotiate their debts, either in person or through online channels.

At this initial stage, Desenrola is focusing its efforts on assisting those with a monthly income of up to R$ 20,000. In summary, these individuals will be able to renegotiate their bank debts, with the option of paying in up to 12 installments. This provides greater flexibility in the payment process.

Debt and beneficiary restrictions

To prevent the accumulation of new debts, the government stipulated that only debts registered by December 31, 2022, will be covered by the program. Thus, approximately 30 million Brazilians are expected to benefit in this first phase.
