Great news for some citizens! On Thursday (29), the government confirmed that it will disburse R$ 9.5 million in payments. These transfers, scheduled for Friday (30), are an additional installment intended to settle some outstanding obligations.
This amount is intended for service-award leave owed to civil servants who had been awaiting payment since 2015. Currently, the state administration is making a financial effort to settle debts with retired public servants.

According to projections, following the government's announcement of the release, the total amount of service-award leave payments exceeded 1 billion reais.
Government will make R$ 9.5 million available to 335 employees
Service-award leave represents rights earned by civil servants in Minas Gerais up to 2004. Payments of this benefit were suspended in 2015, under the government of Fernando Pimentel (PT).
With the aim of putting the state’s finances in order, the administration of Romeu Zema (Novo) established a payment schedule, which began in 2021 and is still underway. In total, the administration has already distributed R$ 1.046 billion to 38,242 retired employees.
Therefore, the government will pay another 335 state employees, with the expectation of settling all outstanding payments later this year. Subsequently, the state government’s plan is to make the payment of service-award leave as soon as the employee retires.
Employees with legal proceedings are also entitled to receive payment
The government will also disburse R$ 9.5 million to employees who took the state to court over nonpayment. In this situation, those who wish to receive the money administratively can contact the HR department of the respective agency for the necessary procedures.
Retirees without legal proceedings but who are entitled to payment can also contact the competent HR department to monitor the status of the transfers.
