Therefore, it is clear that the Federal Government’s latest action is directly related to the program. Last Monday (03), President Lula sanctioned a law that aims to benefit women through this proposal.

Therefore, to make it official, all that was missing was the signature of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. But, after all, what is the new modification to the Bolsa Atleta Program that will benefit Brazilian female athletes?
With the new change, the program will begin to include female athletes in the country who plan to become mothers. Now, financial assistance will be maintained during the period in which the athlete is on maternity leave. Thus, the athlete can receive assistance throughout the entire pregnancy and for up to 6 months after giving birth.
Previously, the law stipulated that it would not be possible to receive 15 consecutive installments of the assistance. However, this rule directly disadvantaged women whose training and performance periods were affected by motherhood.

In summary, when a woman interrupted her training due to pregnancy, she lost the right to the assistance. Currently, the government pays around R$ 3.1 thousand through the Bolsa Atleta Program.
