However, in one specific city, the delay in processing the emergency withdrawal has caused concern among workers eager to receive this amount. More than a month has passed, and residents of Passo Fundo, in Rio Grande do Sul, are still waiting for Caixa's authorization for this withdrawal.

Delay in the emergency withdrawal in Passo Fundo (RS)
At the beginning of September, Passo Fundo (RS) experienced a flood, resulting in the displacement of 131 people. Because of these heavy rains, the municipal administration declared a state of emergency. Additionally, the state government included the city on the list of 79 municipalities in a state of calamity.
The federal government, in turn, confirmed the emergency on September 7. Since then, the residents of Passo Fundo (RS) have been waiting to gain access to Caixa's special withdrawal. According to the institution, anyone affected by a natural disaster has a period of three months after this federal government validation to request the withdrawal.
However, a month has already passed and citizens still have not received the emergency FGTS withdrawal through Caixa. As reported by Daisson de Andrade da Silva, a Civil Defense representative, the authorities in Passo Fundo (RS) have already submitted all the documents required for this type of withdrawal to Caixa.

First, the inclusion of the municipality in Rio Grande do Sul on Caixa’s list is expected, followed by the release of the withdrawal. According to the representative, Caixa is still registering the municipalities. In addition, the bank stated:
“After authorization, workers will be able to request the withdrawal entirely online through the FGTS app. CAIXA emphasizes that the FGTS Disaster Relief Withdrawal complies with the provisions of Decree No. 5,113/2004, which regulates Article 20, item XVI, of Law 8,036/1990. Under this Decree, after the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development confirms the state of emergency, the city must identify the affected areas and provide the information to CAIXA. The institution is cooperating with the local authorities of Passo Fundo/RS and other cities to speed up authorization and make the funds available to workers in the affected regions.”
