Deadline to claim the PIS/Pasep balance

In 2022, the government issued Constitutional Amendment 126, establishing that PIS/Pasep accounts unclaimed for more than 20 years would be closed 60 days after its publication in the Official Gazette. Thus, after this period, the entity considered the unclaimed money abandoned, transferring it to the National Treasury.

However, workers can still request reimbursement from the Union within up to 5 years after the end of the accounts. The amount claimed, in turn, will come from funds allocated to Bolsa Família.

The Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger, responsible for the social program, guaranteed that the payment of the assistance benefit will remain intact.
