Recently, the courts ordered Itaú Unibanco to compensate Paul McCartney fans who purchased counterfeit tickets for his 2017 show in Brazil. The couple filed the lawsuit in 2019, at the Bahia Court of Justice.

The couple purchased tickets to see the former Beatle in Porto Alegre in 2017. The tickets, which cost R$ 850, were fake.
They bought the tickets online, paying through a bank slip issued by Itaú with the email [email protected]. The document also mentioned the producer Mercury Concerts.
The fans realized they had been scammed when they were denied entry to the show at Beira Rio Stadium, on October 13, 2017. Mercury, when contacted, denied involvement in the case.

Confronted, the couple sought justice, requesting compensation for damages. Itaú denied responsibility, claiming that it did not contribute to the scam.
The bank stated that the couple did not prove the payment. Itaú downplayed the incident, calling it a “mere annoyance”.
However, Judge Carine Nassri da Silva, from Ilhéus, ruled in favor of the couple, rejecting the Bank’s defense.
In her decision, she noted that “third parties” issued the boleto through Itaú, deceiving the customers. She ordered compensation of R$ 5 thousand for each fan and also for Mercury Concerts, whose name was used improperly.
