In recent times, a phenomenon has caused concern among Brazilian retirees and pensioners: the significant increase in complaints regarding unauthorized deductions from their social security benefits payrolls.
Thus, these complaints, which soon turned into lawsuits and reports to consumer protection agencies, highlight a critical issue regarding the safety and guarantee of the rights of this segment of the population. See more details
Undue discount on retirement
Therefore, currently, around 20 entities have been making discounts directly from retirees' payrolls, supposedly as a monthly contribution in exchange for various benefits.
However, the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) clarifies that, although the agreements signed with these institutions are legal, the illegality lies precisely in the execution of discounts without the express authorization of the beneficiaries.
Furthermore, the INSS emphasizes that its responsibility is limited to the accreditation of entities and the management of amounts expressly authorized by retirees and pensioners, whether in physical or electronic form, with authorizations not being accepted by telephone or through recorded voice.
How to cancel an undue charge with the INSS
Therefore, for retirees who identify these unauthorized discounts in their payments, the INSS recommends that they first carefully check their monthly payment statement.
Therefore, next to each monthly fee discount, you should find a telephone number for the Customer Service Department (SAC) of the entity responsible for the discount, through which you can request a refund of the amount of the undue charge.
Alternatively, the exclusion of the membership fee can be requested through the website or Meu INSS application (available for Android and iOS), and also via the Call Center 135. Finally, the main recommendation is for beneficiaries to always be aware of their payment statements, in order to prevent any unsolicited discounts.
