Want to ensure a minimum wage for Uber and 99 drivers? See the new proposal!
The government is finalizing a proposal to define the labor rights of service providers for platforms such as Uber and 99. As a result, drivers for these services may soon earn a minimum hourly wage and enjoy essential benefits.
Thus, the Federal Government outlines specific rules for this category. One of the regulations in focus is the mandatory contribution to Social Security. Follow the details of this proposal below.
Uber and 99: Minimum wage planned for drivers
A highlight of the new labor regulation for this area proposed by the government is establishing a minimum wage for drivers. In this way, Uber and 99 professionals could earn up to R$ 30 per hour.
This means that if a driver works 8 hours a day for 20 days of the month, their income would be R$ 4,800. A significant development in the payment structure is that the wage would be based on the hours actually worked. However, both drivers and delivery workers express a preference for basing the wage on the hours they are online in the apps.

A crucial point of the proposal is the mandatory contribution to Social Security. Thus, not only Uber and 99 drivers will contribute, but the companies themselves as well. These contributions will be deducted at source and collected directly by the platforms.
With this contribution, drivers gain access to social security benefits, including retirement, paid vacation and sickness benefits.
Consequently, the plan stipulates that drivers contribute 7.5% of their earnings, based on 25% of the amount per hour worked, which comes to R$ 7.50. In return, the companies will contribute 20% of the total earned by the professionals.
