How to register for Bolsa Família?
Those interested in receiving the benefit must meet certain criteria. First, the family's per capita income cannot exceed R$ 218. In addition, the family must already be registered with the Single Registry (CadÚnico).
Therefore, the person responsible for the family unit (RF) must register their family with the Single Registry (CadÚnico). To do so, they must go to one of the Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS) in their city with the following documents:
- Personal identity document such as an RG, driver's license or passport;
- Valid Individual Taxpayer Registration (CPF);
- Birth certificate, if the RF is under 18 and does not have an RG;
- Marriage certificate, if applicable;
- Work card to prove employment ties and income, if applicable;
- Proof of residence such as a water, electricity, telephone or gas bill, or another document confirming the current address;
- Proof of income such as pay stubs, an income tax return or bank statements.
After that, the government will conduct an assessment to determine which families are entitled to the benefit and include them in the monthly payments.

What is the amount of Bolsa Família?
By meeting the requirements above, the family receives at least R$ 600. However, the amount is calculated based on the number of family members, since each person is entitled to a minimum of R$ 142. Therefore, a family of five people would receive R$ 710.
Thus, to receive a monthly payment of R$ 1,420, the family must consist of 10 people. In addition, beneficiaries of the aid are entitled to additional payments, such as:
- R$ 150 for each child from zero to six years old;
- R$ 50 for each pregnant woman, child, and adolescent between 7 and 18 years old (not yet completed).
