Recently, Rosa Weber, minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), released the second installment of court-ordered debts from the Fund for the Maintenance and Development of Elementary Education and the Valorization of Teaching (Fundef) to Ceará.

Thousands of teachers who worked in basic education between 1998 and 2006 welcomed the news with relief.
The court-ordered debt to Ceará totals R$ 941,791,354.52. Of this total, the government will use 60%, that is, R$ 565 million, to pay teachers and invest in education.
New installment for education
Educators received R$ 745 million in a first installment last year, demonstrating the government’s commitment to settling its debts.
It is important to highlight that heirs of deceased teachers also receive court-ordered debts, providing financial security to families.
In Ceará, payment of the court-ordered debts is made in full, with interest and monetary adjustment, without income tax.
This measure recognizes the efforts of education professionals by providing them with a well-deserved benefit.
