Several Brazilians may receive funds from Caixa due to errors in the system. See which individuals are entitled to this amount.
Approximately 4 million individuals may be able to receive funds from Caixa Econômica Federal. However, many are still unaware of this opportunity, and even fewer understand why the government-owned bank will make this payment to so many citizens.

This year, the São Paulo Judiciary ordered Caixa, Dataprev, the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), and the central government to compensate approximately 4 million beneficiaries of Auxílio Brasil, a former financial assistance initiative.

According to the case, in 2022, the data of participants in this social program was improperly exposed, including information such as home address, telephone contact, benefit amount, NIS number, date of birth, and registration in CadÚnico.
Those affected by the data leak will receive funds from Caixa.
According to the ruling by the trial court judge who assessed the situation, the government entities are responsible for the vulnerability in the system. Especially when the exposed information was allegedly used to offer payroll-deducted loans to those involved.
Therefore, the people affected by the exposure should receive R$ 15,000 each from Caixa and the other government institutions. However, the legal proceedings are still ongoing, as the parties involved may appeal to higher courts.

The Brazilian Institute for the Defense of Personal Data Protection, Compliance and Information Security (Sigilo) led the initiative against the data leak. Therefore, those who wish to find out whether they are entitled to receive amounts from Caixa should visit the institute's website.
There, there is a dedicated page where Auxílio Brasil participants in 2022 can enter their personal information:
- Full name;
- CPF;
- Email;
- Telephone contact.
The website will then indicate whether or not the individual is entitled to the amount from Caixa. In addition, the institute does not charge for the consultation service.
