During the 2022 presidential race, the candidates promised to grant R$ 5,000 to Brazilian students who complete high school. In the electoral context, Simone Tebet, now Minister of Planning and Budget of the Lula Government, passionately advocated for this proposal.

Incentive Program for Brazilian Students May Be Implemented in 2024
The benefit aims to motivate students to finish high school. Camilo Santana, in a conversation with Correio Braziliense, revealed his intention to submit the benefit plan to the National Congress later this month.
As explained by Santana, the expectation is that, during the first year, students will receive part of the amount monthly. After this period, the remaining balance would only be made available upon completion of the course. Thus, those who enter high school next year could already benefit from it.
However, the amount of R$ 5,000 is not guaranteed. Sources consulted by Correio's report indicate that the project's scope still needs to be defined. Therefore, an increase in the number of beneficiaries would imply a reduction in the individual amount. On the other hand, individuals in more precarious situations could receive a higher amount.

The initiative to provide R$ 5,000 to Brazilian students originated with Simone Tebet when she ran for president in 2022. The initial idea consisted of creating a financial reserve for the student, which would be accessible after completing high school.
The action would then aim to counter the increase in young people who drop out of school and are not employed, granting them autonomy over the use of the funds, a reward for completing a crucial educational cycle.
