As one of the largest national banking institutions, Banco do Brasil (BB) disbursed more than R$ 150 billion, directing it toward agribusiness and family farming. They distributed this amount from January to October 19 of the current year.

Banco do Brasil allocated billions to agribusiness in 2023

In the 2023/2024 harvest, the bank has already allocated R$ 80 billion. Therefore, they completed more than 242,000 transactions. The amounts also exceed those of the corresponding period of the 2022/2023 harvest, showing a 9% increase.

Among the notable aspects of this disbursement by Banco do Brasil are the loans closed with family farmers (Pronaf) and medium-sized producers (Pronamp). Thus, these groups account for 65% of the total transactions, covering more than 4,700 cities.

What does the bank declare?

According to Tarciana Medeiros, president of Banco do Brasil, BB has a historic commitment to partnering with family farming and national agribusiness. Therefore, the state-owned bank's objective is to provide capital to ensure that these workers achieve productive harvests.

In turn, Luiz Gustavo Braz Lage, BB's vice president of Agribusiness and Family Farming, mentions that the institution's focus is on carrying out sustainable transactions. One of these initiatives is the credit portfolio. Thus, according to Lage, the goal is to reach R$ 500 billion in the portfolio by 2030. Currently, it is already approaching R$ 323 billion, showing 23% growth compared with the previous year.
