However, according to the reports, two elderly people and one retiree residing in the capital were targeted by unsolicited credit offers from Agibank via phone calls. These incidents generated three complaints to the regulatory agency, which launched an investigation.
When addressing Procon-DF, the victims clarified that they did not have refinancing agreements or requests for payroll-deducted credit cards in their records.
What is the bank's position?
After being notified by the consumer protection agency, Agibank sought to defend its conduct by presenting evidence. However, the data provided by the bank itself corroborated the victims' accounts.
“This worsened the issue. The bank failed twice: by offering unsolicited credit and by doing so to elderly people or retirees via telephone or WhatsApp,” stated Marcelo Nascimento, director-general of Procon-DF.
