Great news for undergraduate students. Last Tuesday (13), applications for the Bolsa Permanência Program (PBP) were opened by the Ministry of Education (MEC). Beneficiaries are expected to receive R$ 1,400 per month.
In total, 2,278 new scholarships for students in situations of socioeconomic vulnerability are being offered by the program. So, keep reading to learn more about the benefit and how to apply.

Applications for the Bolsa Permanência Program Opened by MEC
Bolsa Permanência, created in 2013, provides up to 10,000 simultaneous scholarships to help undergraduate students on their journey. This time, the program is expected to benefit new students in situations of socioeconomic vulnerability, with priority given to Indigenous and quilombola students.
The MEC highlighted its intention to prioritize students from Federal Higher Education Institutions, as this is the most significant demand. The ministry also aims to review applications from students who did not previously benefit.

According to the ministry, the main objective of Bolsa Permanência is to provide better conditions for students in need. Thus, the R$ 1,400 assistance aims to reduce social inequalities and provide financial support for students to complete their undergraduate degree.

Candidates who meet the main requirements must access the Bolsa Permanência Management System (SISBP) through the website to apply. On the portal, students will find the ordinance and more details about the selection process. Applications can be submitted until June 30.
It is worth remembering that Bolsa Permanência is intended for undergraduate students. However, last week, during an appearance on the Roda Viva program on TV Cultura, Minister of Education Camilo Santana emphasized that he has been working to establish a similar assistance program for high school students as well.
