In September, the Federal Court ordered a payment of R$ 15 thousand for everyone who suffered from the data leak of the Auxílio Brasil. Despite this ruling, the decision may be subject to possible legal appeals, meaning there is no guarantee that the individual will receive the payment.
You can check whether or not you are entitled to the benefit through the portal. On the page, simply click the “Check whether I am entitled” option and enter your name, CPF, phone number, and email.
How long will it take to receive the payment?
As this is a legal process, it is important to point out that it may take some time before you receive payment. Another important thing to consider is that payment is not guaranteed, although Instituto Sigilo emphasizes that the chances of success are good.
Furthermore, if the compensation is upheld, the citizen must seek enforcement of the judgment when the case ends, with the help of a lawyer.
How many people had their data leaked?
According to Instituto do Sigilo, around 471,000 people are entitled to compensation, which means that they all experienced the situation. However, the institute did not reveal how it obtained access to this data.
Thus, the organization's idea is to contact the OAB (Brazilian Bar Association) to register lawyers who can offer assistance to those seeking compensation.
