Who is entitled to the R$ 2,230 from the Government?
To claim unemployment insurance, there are certain conditions. The benefit amount and installments vary according to the length of your time at the company and the number of times you have previously requested the benefit. Therefore, it is essential that the dismissal occurred without just cause or that you requested indirect termination, that you do not have a fixed source of income, and that you are not receiving a continuous Social Security benefit.
The unemployment insurance amount is determined based on the salary received before dismissal and the formal employment history. In addition, the minimum amount of insurance for formally employed workers cannot be lower than the minimum wage (R$ 1,320.00 in 2023).
For domestic workers, artisanal fishermen and rescued workers, the amount is equivalent to the minimum wage (R$ 1,320.00 in 2023). Therefore, to receive the Government's R$ 2,230, the worker's average salary must be R$ 4,000.

How to apply for unemployment insurance?
Once dismissed, the employee has 120 days to apply for unemployment insurance. They can do so online through the Emprega Brasil Portal, in person at a Caixa Econômica Federal branch or at a SINE office.
