An online news report claims that the government made up to R$ 3,065.70 available to those who used a credit card. Check it out!
Several programs were launched by the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) this year, an opportunity that scammers have exploited to deceive people with fake government benefits. Recently, a report spread online claiming that the government released up to R$ 3,065.70 for credit card users.
In short, the page claims that the government authorized an emergency withdrawal between 2018 and 2022. To withdraw the money, interested parties must access a website called “Saquemoney”.
Did the government release an emergency withdrawal?
See the message that has recently been spreading across the internet:
MONEY Government released an Emergency Withdrawal of up to R$ 3,065.70 for Those Who Used a Credit Card Between 2018 and 2022. VIDEO TEACHES STEP BY STEP HOW TO WITHDRAW YOUR VIDEO HAS ALREADY STARTED CLICK TO HEAR THE SOUND! SAQUEMONEY To test saquemoney.online
The offer seems tempting, after all, who wouldn't want to receive approximately R$ 3 thousand as a surprise? However, it is fake news, since the government has not authorized any “emergency” withdrawal. Moreover, there is no course to “recover this money”, since this money does not even exist.
Same falsehood, new version
In reality, the narrative is a new version of fake news previously circulated on the internet. The only differences are the falsely offered amount and the website that supposedly offers the course.
The spread of these misleading messages intensified with the reintroduction of the Central Bank's Receivables Values System, which returns forgotten amounts held at banking institutions to Brazilians. To take advantage of the fact that people are looking for these amounts, criminals make up stories to lure their victims.
