This Tuesday (06/13), the presentation of a Total Substitute was announced by state representative Eduardo Botelho, who is also president of the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso. This substitute refers to the bill that seeks to ban fishing in the state of Mato Grosso.
Under the substitute, an amount of R$ 48.7 million will be allocated to create exclusive activities aimed at fishermen. More details on the subject can be found below.
Details about the substitute
Representative Dilmar Dal Bosco is responsible for drafting the total substitute, which will include changes to the original text submitted by Governor Mauro Mendes.
The substitute will also establish a minimum wage as assistance for fishermen, lasting 5 years, corresponding to the period during which the law will be in effect. This differs from the state government's proposal, which provides for full salary payments in the first year, reducing them to 50% in the second year and 25% in the third year.
The vote on the Full Substitute is scheduled to take place this month, on the 28th.
Prohibition
Deputy Eduardo Botelho announced the inclusion of another section in the document. Specifically, it concerns the prohibition imposed on the Mato Grosso State Secretariat for the Environment (SEMA-MT) from analyzing and approving the construction of Small Hydroelectric Plants on the Cuiabá River while the fishing prohibition law is in effect.
Botelho also emphasized that the main objective of this document is for SEMA-MT to establish an Observatory to monitor the economic situation in the sectors affected by fishing, as well as to monitor the situation of fishermen.
The deputy assured that the Assembly will monitor and oversee the situation of fishermen during the period of the fishing prohibition in the state, and may take measures to reduce the losses faced by these workers during this period.
