Bolsa Família Updates
The new Bolsa Família reformulates previous programs and offers financial support to families in situations of social vulnerability.
Reinstated by Provisional Measure No. 1.164/2023, the program has been active since March 2, 2023, with the first payments made on March 20, 2023.
One of the major advances is the increase in the benefit, now at a minimum of R$ 600.00 per family. The new program also offers additional benefits for children, adolescents, and pregnant women.
Participating families will receive an extra R$ 150.00 per child up to 6 years old, ensuring essential care at this critical age for development.
For children and adolescents aged 7 to 18, the additional benefit will be R$ 50.00.
Families with pregnant women will also receive an extra R$ 50.00, helping with maternity expenses and prenatal care.
Who can participate in the program under the new guidelines?
Families eligible for the new Bolsa Família must meet two main conditions. First, they must be registered with the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico), which gathers socioeconomic data from low-income families.
This registration is an essential tool for monitoring beneficiaries of government social programs.
Furthermore, to receive the new Bolsa Família, family income must be equal to or less than R$ 218.00 per person. The sum of individual incomes divided by the number of people cannot exceed this amount.
Note that this limit was recently updated, since the previous amount was R$ 210.00.

Beneficiaries who were already receiving Auxílio Brasil will automatically start receiving the new Bolsa Família and will be able to withdraw the benefit using the card they already have.
However, to request a replacement card, you must contact a Caixa Econômica branch or call the Caixa Citizen Service Center at 0800 726 0207.
