The head of the Ministry of Social Development expresses the goal of eliminating the Bolsa Família waiting list again. Check it out!
Minister Wellington Dias, responsible for administering Bolsa Família, expressed his intention to end the program's waiting list this year, in an interview with the Metrópoles website. The social benefit currently serves more than 21 million families.
The minister emphasized that the total number of beneficiaries exceeds 50 million. The recently restructured Bolsa Família takes family size into account to determine the allocations needed to cover essential expenses.
According to Dias, the administration has already eliminated the program's waiting list once this year. The goal is to repeat this achievement. The minister mentioned that President Lula (PT) expects this to be accomplished by the end of 2023.
Bolsa Família Regularization
Since the beginning of the year, the government has been reviewing the Cadastro Único to prevent fraud and include families that genuinely meet the criteria established by the program.
As a result, millions had their Bolsa Família canceled or suspended. The minister claims that updating the registration is crucial to make distribution effective and thus eliminate the waiting list.
New Bolsa Família
The revamped Bolsa Família increases the benefit amount through additions of R$ 150 and R$ 50, while also guaranteeing R$ 142 per capita to families. Thus, the aid amount may be significantly higher, depending on the family composition.
Starting in June, pregnant women, nursing mothers, children, and young people between seven and 18 years old will begin receiving an additional R$ 50. Children under six will continue receiving the extra R$ 150. It is worth noting that the additions are cumulative; therefore, receiving one does not exclude receiving another. For this reason, in some cases, the total benefit amount may be significantly higher.
