Drops in ethanol and gasoline prices reach the pumps, but diesel prices rise. Find out more!
During the third week of June, ValeCard, a company specializing in fleet management, recorded a drop in ethanol and gasoline prices at the pumps. However, the company also noted an increase in the price of diesel.
The company compared prices from June 12 to 18 with the previous week. So, keep reading for more information about this decrease in fuel prices at gas stations throughout Brazil.
Ethanol and gasoline prices experience a drop
ValeCard's survey was based on transactions at more than 25,000 gas stations throughout the country. Thus, it identified a price drop for both ethanol and gasoline.
The average price of hydrated ethanol reached R$ 3.791 per liter. This value represents a 1.50% reduction compared to the previous week. This drop, the sixth consecutive one, is due to the decrease in prices implemented by fuel-producing plants. On the other hand, gasoline prices fell by 1.23% compared to the previous week, reaching R$ 5.532.
Brendon Rodrigues, responsible for innovation and portfolio at ValeCard, explains that, although there are fluctuations, the downward trend has persisted since May.
Since May 15, ethanol-producing plants in São Paulo have reduced the price per liter of hydrous ethanol by 3.25%, despite weekly fluctuations, he explained.
Further reductions in sight?
In addition to the decreases recorded for ethanol and gasoline, further reductions are expected in the coming weeks. The expectation is that the recent 4.3% cut in refinery gasoline prices, announced by Petrobras, will finally be reflected at the pumps.
However, not all fuels are following the downward trend. The price of S-10 diesel, the most widely consumed fuel in Brazil, rose by 0.66% at gas stations during the third week of June. The average price was R$ 5.360.
