Starting today, July 17, banks and financial institutions have been authorized to join the Desenrola Brasil program.

We developed this project with the purpose of helping debtors and financial organizations discover payment mechanisms for their debts, minimizing the financial burden on people and encouraging economic recovery.

In addition, starting today, those with debts of up to R$ 100 can request the removal of their names from negative credit reports.

However, it is essential to emphasize that the Desenrola Brasil renegotiation process will take place gradually. In this context, only those who fall into Tier 2 will receive benefits at this initial stage.

Tier 1, aimed at people facing greater economic vulnerability, will begin its activities in September.

Despite this, we were aware of how eagerly this program was awaited.

After all, many Brazilians are currently facing default. In this regard, Desenrola Brasil emerges as an emergency solution to this situation.

Therefore, to help clarify questions about participation in this program and provide other relevant information, we have prepared this text.

Desenrola Brasil program brackets

Tier 2

We will begin with Tier 2 because, as mentioned earlier, renegotiations with this group will start first.

The program’s Tier 2 aims to serve people with a monthly income between two minimum wages (R$ 2,640) and R$ 20,000.

Within this group, we recommend paying the debts through the channels suggested by the financial agents, which allow payment in installments over at least 12 payments.

Furthermore, it is necessary that we have included the debtor in the register of defaulters by December 31, 2022.

Name cleared automatically through Desenrola Brasil?

With the start of Tier 2 renegotiations, banks have committed to updating the records of 1.5 million consumers who have financial restrictions and debts of up to R$ 100.

The Ministry of Finance imposed this condition as a prerequisite for financial institutions to join the program.

Thus, we will regularize the situation automatically, without the account holder needing to make any request.

Note: Desenrola Brasil will not forgive debts of up to R$ 100. We will only remove the debtor's name from debtor records.

Tier 1

Program Desenrola Brasil's Tier 1, scheduled to begin in September, focuses on the low-income population, with a guarantee from the National Treasury.

In this phase, we selected as beneficiaries defaulters with an income of up to 2 minimum wages (equivalent to R$ 2.6 thousand) and debts of up to R$ 5 thousand.

To achieve the largest possible discounts on debts, the government will hold auctions in which the amounts owed may be paid in full or in installments over up to 60 months, with maximum interest of 1.99% per month.

To make these interest rates attractive and ensure banks' interest in the program, the National Treasury commits to covering possible defaults that may occur on the loans granted.

For this purpose, the Treasury Secretariat will have a specific guarantee fund totaling R$ 8 billion.

Conditions for renegotiations through Desenrola Brasil

To facilitate debt renegotiation, we established different approaches to serve the categories defined under Desenrola Brasil.

Thus, in Tier 2, we advise interested parties to contact the corresponding bank, where they may choose to renegotiate directly through the specific channels provided by the bank.

By contrast, in Tier 1, we conduct the entire debt renegotiation process exclusively online, on the official Desenrola Brasil platform.

To access this platform, you must have a silver- or gold-level Gov.br account.

In Tier 1, debts can be paid in up to 60 installments, with minimum installments of R$ 50 and interest limited to 1.99% per month. These conditions aim to make payment more accessible to debtors.

However, financing conditions in Tier 2 vary and are negotiated individually between banks and customers.

This means that installment options, interest rates, and other specific details will be agreed upon on a case-by-case basis, based on negotiations between both parties.

Finally, neither tier will be subject to IOF payments on its transactions. However, if the debtor chooses to take out bank financing, creditor companies may charge a reimbursement fee.
