PIS payments began on February 15. See which workers will still receive the allowance this year!
Caixa Econômica Federal released R$ 3.7 billion yesterday (15) for workers born in September and October, in a new PIS batch. Those who have an account at Caixa received the amount automatically in their checking or savings account, while those without a bank account had the allowance deposited into Caixa Tem.
PIS payments began on February 15, covering two groups of workers per month, according to their month of birth. So far, those born in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, and October have received the allowance. However, everyone can claim the amount until December 28, 2023.
Who is entitled to PIS
It is important to note that not all private-sector workers are entitled to PIS. To receive the salary bonus, it is necessary to meet the following criteria relating to the 2021 base year:
- Have been registered with PIS for at least five years;
- Have worked under a formal employment contract for at least 30 days (consecutive or otherwise) in 2021;
- Have received average remuneration of up to two minimum monthly wages;
- Have had their data updated by the employer in the Annual Social Information Report (RAIS).
PIS Amount
The PIS amount is based on the current minimum wage, which is currently R$ 1,320.00. However, not everyone receives this amount, as the sum is proportional to the months worked under a formal employment contract in the base year (2021). To find out the amount to be received, the total is divided by the 12 months of the year and multiplied by the number of months worked.
