More than 45,000 cars with discounts from the Federal Government have already been sold by the Brazilian industry since the publication of the popular car Provisional Measure (MP), according to information released by Jato Brasil, which conducts the survey based on vehicle registrations in recent weeks.
The country's best-selling model under the price-reduction program is the Volkswagen Polo, with more than 5,200 units sold since the publication of the MP. The Fiat Strada and Hyundai HB20 also stand out, completing the podium of the best-selling models as of last Monday (26). The complete list can be found below:

The Provisional Measure
The Provisional Measure establishing discounts on popular cars was published at the beginning of this month. The reductions apply only to models with an original price below R$ 120 thousand and range from R$ 2 thousand to R$ 8 thousand, depending on the model.

To determine the size of the discount, the Federal Government created a points system that takes into account the car's price, CO2 emissions, national density, and energy consumption. The resulting score determines the discount amount, which can range from R$ 2 thousand to R$ 8 thousand, as detailed below:
- R$ 8 thousand discount for vehicles with a total score equal to or greater than 90;
- R$ 7 thousand discount for vehicles with a total score equal to or greater than 85 and less than 90;
- R$ 6 thousand discount for vehicles with a total score equal to or greater than 80 and less than 85;
- R$ 5 thousand discount for vehicles with a total score equal to or above 77 and below 81;
- R$ 4 thousand discount for vehicles with a total score equal to or above 73 and below 77;
- R$ 3 thousand discount for vehicles with a total score equal to or above 69 and below 73;
- R$ 2 thousand discount for vehicles with a total score below 69.
Extension of the popular car MP

Vice President Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) announced on his official social media accounts that he will extend the measure for longer, considering the success of the program to make popular cars more affordable. Initially, the expectation was that the program would end before the end of this week.
