According to records released by the federal government, by the end of September this year, the Bolsa Família program had canceled 2.9 million registrations. Journalist Paulo Cappelli, from the Metrópoles news portal, reported this information last Wednesday.

Since March of this year, the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) began a thorough review, the “fine-tooth comb” process, of the Bolsa Família program. The goal of this action is to detect and exclude beneficiaries whose monthly income exceeds the maximum amounts for participation in the program.
In this process, approximately 1.2 million accounts showed monthly income above the standards established for inclusion in Bolsa Família. This move is part of a plan to ensure that the program’s funds benefit those who truly need the assistance in a fairer and more efficient way.
It is worth noting that, in June of this year, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sanctioned a decree launching the “New Bolsa Família,” replacing the former “Auxílio Brasil,” the name adopted during the administration of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
