If you receive Bolsa Família or BCP, this is good news: you will no longer need to pay the installments on the property under Minha Casa Minha Vida. This is because, according to the ordinance issued by the Ministry of Cities, families that are part of the housing program will be assessed by the team.
Thus, if by September 28 of this year the beneficiary was receiving either of the two benefits, they will be exempt from the property installments. See more details below!

Minha Casa Minha Vida fee exemption
This new measure is permanent, which means that even if the beneficiary stops receiving Bolsa Família or BPC, they will remain exempt from paying the installments. It is worth noting that, when questioned by Valor, the Ministry of Cities did not respond on how this fee exemption financing will work.
Despite this, Jaqueline Souza, president of AMORA, an association that works with vulnerable people in Brasília, praised the government’s measure.
Will future beneficiaries also be exempt from the installment?
According to the Ministry of Social Development, future users of program will undergo a “check at the time of the eligibility assessment by the financial agent”.
In other words, if the person meets the standards established by the ordinance, the family may be exempt from the installment.
Other Minha Casa Minha Vida measures
The installment exemption is not the only new development; check out other measures established by the ordinance:
- Reduction to 60 months in the number of installments to settle the contract for homes under the National Urban Housing Program;
- Reduction from 4% to 1% of the counterpart paid by beneficiaries of the Rural Housing Program;
- Families earning between R$ 1,320 and R$ 4,400 will pay only 15% of their family income, that is, a reduction of R$66.
