A significant amount of R$ 535 million in PIS-Pasep salary bonuses is still awaiting withdrawal by more than 540,000 Brazilian workers. This is because this amount, referring to the 2021 base year, remains unwithdrawn, representing a missed opportunity for many workers who are entitled to this benefit.
The PIS, managed by Caixa Econômica Federal, and Pasep, administered by Banco do Brasil, are programs intended for private- and public-sector workers, respectively. However, the amounts range from R$ 110 to R$ 1,320, depending on the months worked in 2021, and are an important source of financial support for many Brazilians.

Deadline for withdrawal ends in December
The deadline for withdrawing these amounts ends on December 28. After this date, unwithdrawn amounts are returned to the Worker Support Fund (FAT). Therefore, it is crucial that workers check their eligibility and make the withdrawal as soon as possible.
To be eligible for the allowance, workers must have worked under formal registration for at least one month in 2021 and received, on average, up to two minimum monthly wages. It is important to note that, in the event of the account holder’s death, unpaid amounts remain guaranteed to the dependents or legal successors.
How to check and withdraw PIS-Pasep?
To check eligibility for the PIS-Pasep allowance, workers can access the Gov.br portal or the Digital Work Card application (Digital CTPS). The consultation is available under the “Benefits” option in the app’s bottom menu or through the contact numbers provided by the responsible financial institutions.
For beneficiaries who have a checking or savings account at the banks, the credit is deposited automatically. Those who are not customers must go to the financial institutions to withdraw the funds at the counter, carrying an official photo ID and their PIS-Pasep number.
Impact of changes to payment criteria
Recently, there was a significant change in the criteria for payment of the salary bonus. This is because the Bolsonaro government changed the rule to consider those who worked two years earlier, impacting the payment schedule.
