First, we must emphasize that individuals who live alone are indeed entitled to receive Bolsa Família. However, it is crucial that they meet certain conditions established by the program.
One of these conditions concerns individual income, which must not exceed R$ 218 per month.
There is also a condition linked to the percentage of beneficiaries in a given city. According to the program's current guidelines, only 16% of registrations per municipality may be for one-person families.
If your municipality has not yet reached this limit and you comply with the program's regulations, you may be eligible for the benefit, provided that you register correctly with CRAS.
However, if the registration limit for single-person households in your municipality has already been reached, you will need to wait in a queue until a spot becomes available.
Once approved, you will receive an amount determined by your personal characteristics, as we will discuss below.
How much does Bolsa Família pay to those who live alone?
First of all, we emphasize that the initial amount of Bolsa Família for those who live alone is R$ 600. However, there is one situation that can change this amount: pregnancy.
If a pregnant woman lives alone, in addition to the standard amount of R$ 600, she will also receive an additional R$ 50 per month through the Family Variable Benefit.
After giving birth, if she continues breastfeeding the baby, the mother will receive an additional R$ 150 until the child reaches 6 years of age.
However, in this situation, the woman would no longer be classified as living alone, given the presence of her child.

However, during pregnancy, she is still considered an individual and, therefore, in addition to the standard R$ 600, she may receive the extra R$ 50, totaling R$ 650 per month.

In other situations, the Bolsa Família amount for those who live alone remains R$ 600. The amount only changes when there are other bonuses, such as Vale Gás, for example.
How does the amount of R$ 142 per member apply here?
If you keep yourself informed, you have probably already heard about the fixed amount of R$ 142 per member of Bolsa Família.
This rule caused confusion, as those who live alone thought they would receive only this amount.
However, this rule effectively applies to families with five or more members. In these situations, multiplying R$ 142 by the number of members results in a total exceeding R$ 600.
On the other hand, when the calculation results in an amount below R$ 600, the Government makes the adjustment, ensuring that the stipulated minimum is provided, including for those who live alone.
