News for Bolsa Família Beneficiaries

Those enrolled in Bolsa Família received excellent news. This August, the government will deposit an additional amount for participants in this significant income redistribution program.

It is called the Basic Food Basket Benefit, allocating R$ 200 to families registered with Bolsa Família. This increase will certainly boost the amount already distributed to participants, adding to other extra bonuses.

In short, all families registered with Bolsa Família that meet the criteria will be entitled to the basic food basket amount. However, some will not actually receive this bonus.

It is important to clarify that the benefit is not the responsibility of the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance (MDS). The states make this payment. Therefore, only some will receive the additional R$ 200.

Procedures for Applying for the Basic Food Basket Benefit

To check whether the benefit will be paid in your municipality, go to the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS). If confirmed, the amount will be added to the Bolsa Família payment via the Caixa Tem digital account.

Note that some locations use a magnetic card. The states credit R$ 200 monthly, although there is a peculiarity that not everyone appreciates.

The holder can use the card for purchases or debit transactions. However, the card does not work as credit, as it is a food card.

Bolsa Família Base Amount

Bolsa Família establishes criteria, one of which determines the amount per family member. This is the Citizenship Income Benefit, paying R$ 142 for each person registered with CadÚnico.

The rule applies to families with one member, paying R$ 142. The Federal Government, however, increases it to R$ 600 per person registered with Bolsa Família.

Families with up to four members, which would receive R$ 568, receive R$ 600, supplemented by the government. Some, with the Payroll-Deductible Loan, may receive less than R$ 600.

Bolsa Família Amount Can Exceed R$ 1,000

The program has a minimum amount, but no cap on the amount received. Recipients may receive more than R$ 600. This has been common, with increases for beneficiaries.

The additional benefits include:

  • Early Childhood Benefit: R$ 150 per child up to six years old since March 2023.
  • Family Variable Benefit: an additional R$ 50 for children and young people aged 7 to 18, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.

These increased amounts for families with children, young people, pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers.

For example, a family of two adults and three children will receive R$ 600 plus R$ 150 per child. Therefore, R$ 1,050 (R$ 600 + R$ 450).

More individuals can increase the amount.
