Last Thursday (27/07) marked the beginning of Bolsa Família payments to beneficiaries whose Social Identification Number (NIS) ends in 8. Caixa Econômica Federal, in turn, handles the deposits for beneficiary families.
Essentially, this constitutes the second installment of Bolsa Família. With an additional R$50, the Federal Government allocates the amount to families whose members include pregnant women and children/young people aged 7 to 18. Thus, expectations for the program's funds keep beneficiaries anxious.
In addition, the Federal Government has granted another extra R$150 to families with children up to six years old. Therefore, depending on the family structure, Bolsa Família can provide approximately R$900 per month.
Consequently, the minimum amount paid by Bolsa Família is R$600. However, with the extras deposited into beneficiaries' accounts, the social program's average reached approximately R$684.17. The Ministry of Development and Social Assistance stated that 20.9 million families will receive the benefit.

Changes to Bolsa Família
In July, an integration between Bolsa Família and the National Social Information Registry (CNIS) began. Thanks to data comparison, around 341,000 families had their benefit canceled because their income exceeded the social program’s limit.
It is worth noting that CNIS houses more than 80 billion administrative records on income, formal employment relationships, social security benefits, and assistance benefits. In short, the National Social Security Institute (INSS) is responsible for payments and deposits into beneficiaries’ accounts.
On the other hand, approximately 300,000 families entered the income transfer program in July. The Federal Government reached these figures through its active outreach policy. Thus, the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) underwent a major restructuring.
The Bolsa Família beneficiary registry has sought to focus on economically vulnerable people who are entitled to the social program benefit but were not receiving it. Since March, the payments have covered more than 1.3 million families.
Bolsa Família protection rule
In July, approximately 2.2 million families joined the Benefit protection rule. In summary, this rule, implemented the previous month, allows families with employed members whose income has increased to receive 50% of the social program benefits.
This percentage of the Bolsa Família benefit will be paid for a maximum period of two years. Each family member must have a monthly income equivalent to half the minimum wage. Therefore, the average amounts received from the Federal Government are R$378.91.
According to the Ministry of Social Development, 1.46 million of the beneficiary families that joined the Bolsa Família protection rule in July did so as a result of the integration of information from the government's social income transfer program and CNIS.

The Federal Government restructured Bolsa Família, previously called Auxílio Brasil. This guaranteed a minimum monthly payment of R$600 to beneficiaries. The approval of a Transitional Constitutional Amendment allowed spending of approximately R$145 billion.
Similarly, these amounts were excluded from the Federal Government’s spending cap, and R$70 billion was allocated to the Benefit. The additional payment of R$150 began in March 2023, following an audit of the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) to eliminate fraud in the income transfer program.
In conclusion, approximately three million beneficiaries were removed from Bolsa Família due to inconsistencies in their records. Currently, deposits are made during the last ten business days of each month, and it is possible to check them in the Caixa Tem app.
