Bolsa Família represents the main social program in Brazil, benefiting millions of low-income families every month with an amount of at least R$ 600. In addition, the program makes extra payments, such as the Early Childhood Benefit and the Family Variable Benefit. However, program participants now have an additional government payment available.
The recent addition to Bolsa Família is the so-called Christmas bonus, which participants had been requesting for a long time. Therefore, the government decided that, this year, approximately 695 thousand program enrollees will receive this Christmas bonus.

The government set the amount of the Benefit's Christmas bonus at R$ 64, allocating it to 695,418 families in Paraíba. See below the month designated for this additional benefit.
When will the Christmas bonus be paid?
Bolsa Família beneficiaries in Paraíba will receive the Christmas bonus along with the program's December payments. The government has already scheduled the dates and, as is customary, brings forward the end-of-year payments so that families receive the funds before the Christmas and New Year's celebrations.
Therefore, December payments will begin on the 11th and end on the 22nd. The government organizes payments according to the final digit of the NIS (Social Identification Number). See the following schedule:
- Final NIS 1: December 11;
- Final NIS 2: December 12;
- Final NIS 3: December 13;
- Final NIS 4: December 14;
- Final NIS 5: December 15;
- Final NIS 6: December 18;
- Final NIS 7: December 19;
- Final NIS 8: December 20;
- Final NIS 9: December 21;
- Final NIS 0: December 22.
Other Bolsa Família payments
As mentioned, Bolsa Família has additional payments, namely the Early Childhood Benefit and the Family Variable Benefit. The Early Childhood Benefit provides an extra R$150 for each child up to six years old in the beneficiary family.

The Family Variable Benefit, in turn, grants R$ 50 to Bolsa Família participants when the family has pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers or young people between 7 and 18 years old.
Additionally, since June, a new method has been implemented to calculate beneficiaries’ payments, based on the Citizenship Income Benefit. Under this guideline, each member of a Bolsa Família family receives R$ 142.
However, the base amount of R$ 600 per family remains, as determined by the Constitutional Amendment on the Transition at the beginning of the year, when the social program was reformulated. It is worth remembering that the Benefit temporarily replaced Auxílio Brasil during Jair Bolsonaro’s administration.
Thus, if the sum of the R$ 142 payments does not reach the base amount of Bolsa Família, the Complementary Benefit comes into effect to supplement the amount. In this way, all families are guaranteed at least R$ 600.
