Bolsa Família: Caixa schedules the second-to-last payment of October.

The October Bolsa Família disbursements are about to conclude. On Monday (30), Caixa Econômica Federal makes the third-to-last transfer of the month, serving another group of beneficiaries of Brazil’s main income redistribution program.

The bank began October payments on the 18th and will make the final transfer on Tuesday (31). Those still awaiting the October installment are anxiously waiting to receive it, which will happen soon.

For clarification, Bolsa Família transfers take place during the last 10 business days of the month, according to the last digit of the holders’ Social Identification Number (NIS). Thus, each day, a new group of beneficiaries gains access to the amount in their accounts.

Today, Monday (30), Caixa pays holders whose NIS ends in 9. They can view the amount through the Caixa Tem app; however, to withdraw it in cash, they must go to a bank.

Final Bolsa Família transfer days in October

The Federal Government transferred the benefit amounts to Caixa Econômica in mid-October, and the banking institution was responsible for making the payments to the beneficiaries. In fact, there is a payment schedule, meaning that each group of beneficiaries receives payments on specific dates, according to the end of their NIS.

Here is the Bolsa Família payment schedule for October 2023:

Understand the basic Bolsa Família amount

It is important to mention that Bolsa Família adopts a rule called the Citizenship Income Benefit. Basically, this rule ensures a payment of R$ 142 per individual in the family unit registered with the Single Registry (CadÚnico).

Considering only this rule, families with a single member would receive only R$ 142 per month. In fact, families with up to four members would receive up to R$ 568 (R$ 142 x 4 = R$ 568) per month.

However, the Federal Government establishes a minimum payment of R$ 600 to each Bolsa Família recipient. In clear terms, the benefit amount cannot be lower than this sum, unless the beneficiary previously requested the Payroll-Deducted Loan, since the loan deductions directly reduce the benefit amount.

This means that families with up to four members, which in theory would be entitled to R$ 568, receive a supplement so that the amount reaches R$ 600.

When families have more than four people, the government does not add to the amount, as the benefit exceeds R$ 600. For example, a family of five members receives R$ 710 per month (R$ 142 x 5 = R$ 710). If there are ten members, the amount reaches R$ 1.420 (R$ 142 x 10 = R$ 1.420), exceeding the base salary.

Other Bolsa Família benefits

Besides the rules already mentioned, there are other additions that increase the amount of the Bolsa Família transfer. Check them out:

• Early Childhood Benefit: since March 2023, the government has been paying R$ 150 per child up to six years of age.
• Variable Family Benefit: ensures the payment of an additional amount of R$ 50 to children and young people aged seven to 18, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding women who are members of the family unit.
• Nursing Family Variable Benefit: in September, the government began paying an additional R$ 50 to individuals from families with children up to seven incomplete months old, helping with the baby's nutritional development.

In October, several recipients are also receiving Gas Assistance. Although it was suspended in September, payments resumed in October. Essentially, this benefit is provided bimonthly.

It is worth noting that all these additional payments have the same disbursement date as Bolsa Família. Thus, recipients eligible to receive these benefits will obtain the amounts according to the calendar of Brazil's main social assistance program.

According to government information, the average Bolsa Família payment reached R$ 688.97 nationwide. This indicates that beneficiaries received an amount considerably above the minimum payment of R$ 600 this month, and the expectation is that these amounts will remain through the end of the year.
